Mii Contest Channel

Yesterday saw the release of the Wii's newest channel, the Mii Contest Channel.

For those who have your Wii connected to the internet you will have received a message from Nintendo yesterday telling you that it is now available. If you haven't already got it you can download it under the Wii software section of the shop channel.

So what does this new channel do?

Well, as you can guess from the title, it's all about the Miis. When you enter the Mii Contest menu there are two options, 'Posting Plaza' and 'Contests'. Let's start with the posting plaza.

The posting plaza lets you browse a variety of Miis uploaded by Wii users either in your region or worldwide. If you see any that you particularly like you can download them into your Mii channel for use in Wii Sports and other Mii using games. Although you are unable to edit them in any way just like if you receive a friend's Mii. Of course, you can also post your own Mii creations to be judged by other Wii users.

The contest section is just that. A contest where you can show off your Mii creation skills. As I understand it at this moment each contest will last a total of two weeks, the first week for submitting you Mii and the other week for judging. Obviously it's doubtful that there will be any prizes or anything although crediting you with some Wii points or something wouldn't be a bad idea. The first contest theme is 'Mario without his cap' so get creating those Miis and give it a try.

Anyway, I'm off to play Endless Ocean.
